NEXY Black Shelf Projection Screens: A New Bright Spot in Home Theater's Battle Against Ambient Light

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) December 4, 2006 -- TCI today announced the availability of NEXY black shelf projection screens.

Projection screens share a common adversary: ambient light.

A darkened room is always ideal for projected images, but not always practical.

Home theaters usually double as family rooms, full of light from the surrounding windows. Afternoon matinees or the big game may not even be an option without resorting to heavy curtains.

The best view in the office is often reserved for the boardroom. An otherwise seamless presentation to clients is interrupted every time the shades are drawn to view a corporate video or PowerPoint in the dark.

Rear projection screens for storefront windows are challenged by daylight. While no projection ever outshines the sun, NEXY's new black shelf technology virtually eliminates reflected ambient light from the screen and allow promotions to shine through to the customer.

NEXY uses thousands of black shelves across the length of their front and rear projection screens. These tiny shelves direct close to 100% of ambient light away from the viewer, leaving only the projected image.

"The result is a powerful high-contrast image that is easy on the eyes and unequaled in the marketplace," says TCI's Alicia Mottus.

NEXY screens at 60" and 72" offered on www.nexy.ca can be easily installed in the home or office, and dwarf all but a few plasma and liquid crystal displays.

"We know that many of our clients are looking to create home theatres that overwhelm their audience. Our new 120" and 144" screens should meet that challenge," says Mottus.

Custom installations of up to 360" have been installed in brightly lit shopping centers and other venues.

"We're seeing increased worldwide demand for this unique technology," says Mottus. "Everyone is looking for the best screen to work in ambient light and NEXY is the best screen available."

Founded in 2000, TCI is a privately held company based in Vancouver, Canada.
